haha it's funny to think the last time I was posting (minus my blogs) it was summer. Boy has time flied. I know I never really said anything about my semester and what it entailed, I know I mentioned things but it was fast because well there was no time to be had. I guess now I'll take the time to explain my courses and semester.... maybe I should have written a blog... oh well.
So on Mondays I had Perception, Power & the Media. It was a really boring class, taught by a really boring professor. He would put a documentary on and fall asleep. After the documentary, a group would present on a topic. It was a snooze fest & I skipped that class twice. One for working purposes the just because. My group was the group who presented on the last day, and we presented to 4 people (including my prof) it was on sports culture. I didn't do much but introduce what the rest of my group would be talking about.
Also on Mondays I had News Gathering. Oh the joys. I seriously thought this class would be fun & not that bad, it turned into my worst nightmare. She wanted us to write our articles like how she (my prof) would write them. That's hard especially since this is our first year writing news articles. We had 4 major articles to write 1) the streeter where we went out on the street and asked people a question. Ours was what is your opinion on politicians smoking pot. No one I asked really understood the question, I didn't really pass that 2) the city council story. We could go to any city's council, though most chose Toronto and you sat in and got a story, mine was about the subway Rob Ford (as I'm sure everyone knows who he is by now) wants to put in. I did better on that. 3) he court story. We had to go to Toronto's court house for this. That was a very long day and I missed my law class for it but it was well worth it because I passed with an 83! 4) is our final original story. It could be anything. I wrote why my school doesn't have a break in the fall semester, ehh didn't do so hot on that. The news quizzes were annoying, but I got through the class.
Tuesdays I had Law in the Media. It was an interesting class to learn about the law and what you can can't do. Since I didn't know before a lot of it, though a lot is common knowledge. I had a good prof, he's an international civil lawyer so it was great & he loves to talk about everything and anything. I'll always remember him because he's "IN THE ZONE!" he would yell that with his hand gestures every class haha.
Wednesdays I had Radio Broadcast. I think I'm going to mis this class the most. As much as everything was pretty hands on because we're out writing our own stories, this well kinda felt the most. We had computers that used the system radio stations used, though we never live to air, it was still fun. I had 2 profs for this class since it was broken up into two, a theory class, which taught us how to write for radio, then afterwards a lab portion where we had to actually re-write a story, and that was our assignments. I think I improved as the weeks went by.
Thursdays I had News Editing and Writing. At first I thought it was the worst class ever and I hated it. My prof gave us a schedule for when everything was due, so our story ideas, then first draft, second draft, then to print. It was very overwhelming, but after the first month, it became my favourite class because we actually wrote for our schools little paper, and it has an online site too. Last week, as I told Lory, I spilled soup, and I got it on my first ever print article, that kind of saddened me, but it looks okay. If you ever want to read my articles Radix is the place to go. You just kinda have to find my name.
Fridays I had off :)
Which is when I would go see Dan. Yes I'm still with him. If you follow me on Instagram (meghan___murphy) you would know lol. I have posted photos there, it's just quick and easy. I probably won't post those here, I'll keep those separate.
Everything is good with me, I'm finally not busy so I took the time to write all this up to let you know what I did and why I was so busy all the time. I'm pretty sure when next semester comes January I'll be just as busy, and it's just easier that I stay away from social media.... or well try to haha. Also I got rid of my blackberry in October, I now have the iPhone 4S. It took a while to adjust, but it's working for me. As well I turned 20 this past November. Damn I'm just getting older haha. It feels weird to say I'm 20 now :p
Okay I'm going to stop talking now this has gotten long enough. I did go out to take photos today so I'll be either posting a blog, or individually I haven't decided yet. But in the mean time, can you guess what this is? :)
